We trust you are keeping well and coping okay during these difficult, unprecedented times?

Please find a copy of the latest committee meeting in the members area that took place last week, the 30th April 2020. As you can imagine the agenda predominantly focused upon our contingency plans  and the actions that we’ve implemented during the lockdown period. We have received a number of suggestions from members offering ideas and support to help us get through this difficult period to which we are extremely grateful for.

Following the instruction from the Government to close our doors to the public on 20th March 2020 due to the Covid-19 crisis, our strategy to cut our revenue costs to a minimum appears to be paying off and, together with the government business support grant, our financial position isn’t too bad at this moment in time. Clearly we need to
monitor the situation on a daily basis and anticipate what our financial position may be in a further 3-6 months time should the pub remain closed. The Plunkett Foundation who are our professional advisors provide us with advice and support on a daily basis and we are constantly talking with other community owned pubs across the country
who find themselves in the same position as us.

Work is on-going behind the scenes to identify other funding streams  such as alternative income generation and we will be applying for a further £25K grant through the Plunkett Foundation.

Also, a number of our members continue to volunteer their time to vulnerable households of our local community who cannot leave their homes for essential items such as food, medication etc…

Finally,  a gentle reminder to those members who are yet to provide confirmation of their contact details so that we can ensure that our shareholder register is kept up to date and we can submit our returns to HMRC for tax relief. Can you please confirm the name of the shareholder, number of shares held, postal address, email address and phone number. Returns required by 10th May 2020.

We will endeavour to keep you all updated on the situation and we are confident that our Community Pub the Auctioneers Arms will open its doors and continue where we left off when the time is ready.

Stay safe and look after yourselves.

Regards

Ross Ward,
Caverswall Community Society.
